Advocating for the cannabis community since 2006
Anthony Law Group specializes in business and commercial law, regulatory compliance, and government affairs for the cannabis industry.
With a team of industry-experienced attorneys and policy professionals, Anthony Law Group helps cannabis organizations to get licensed, maintain compliance, and develop their long-term strategic plans in California's complex cannabis market.
In its first year, Anthony Law Group famously represented Harborside in their successful bid for one of two fiercely sought-after dispensary permits. Having grown along with the industry over the past decade, the firm continues to advocate for world-class organizations and homegrown startups alike.
Deeply committed to building an equitable cannabis industry, Anthony Law Group engages with local governments to demand sensible cannabis policy. We have worked closely with city and county governments throughout California to shape cannabis-friendly laws and regulations, and have assisted cannabis operators and investors of all kinds to navigate the California legal and business landscape.

A leading cannabis attorney and political strategist, James is an expert in legal, regulatory and government affairs matters affecting the cannabis industry.
In 2006, James started his private law practice, which was the first in California to specialize in civil and land-use matters related to cannabis. Backed by his experience as Oakland Deputy City Attorney and steeled by his passion for drug-policy activism, James was singularly suited to the task.
From serving on the Board of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, to having written countless winning applications, James has dedicated his career to the cannabis industry. In his book, The Cannabis Manifesto, Harborside founder and industry icon Steve DeAngelo calls James a "brilliant strategist and steadfast advocate, without whom Harborside might never have been licensed."
James is a longtime faculty member at Oaksterdam University and, as a practitioner of zen koan meditation since 1980, occasionally teaches at Pacific Zen Institute. His life was forever changed for better with the birth of his daughter in 2000.
With a thorough understanding of the new regulatory landscape in California, Christina helps clients understand the regulatory process, create professional local and state permit applications, and bring their businesses into compliance.

Christina graduated with Honors from the University of Miami School of Law, and has worked in small businesses that include mindfulness instruction for attorneys and grey water regulation in drought-stricken Southern California. She stays sane by maintaining a regular meditation and yoga practice and hanging out by the ocean as much as possible.
